At Hirschprunn, wines have been crafted from the grapes cultivated in its vineyards ever since the seventeenth century. Under the guidance of Alois Lageder, the estate today is experiencing a renaissance, in fulfillment of one of his lifelong dreams.

The Hirschprunn estates first appearance in official deeds and records dates to 1363. In the course of the 1600s, both the residence and the surrounding buildings assumed the form they continue to show today. Casòn Hirschprunn has been known for centuries for fine wines produced from its own grapes. Up until 1815, the estate remained the property of the Prunner-Hirschprunn family which originally created it. After a variety of historical vicissitudes, the residence and its surrounding vineyards were sold to Alois Lageder in 1991 by the Curia of the Bishopric of Trent.

Casòn Hirschprunn was then reorganised in the spirit of the Châteaux of Bordeaux: one estate, one wine. A new concept for Alto Adige. This thirty-two hectare property on the beds of scree around Magrè offers excellent growing conditions for a carefully selected assortment of red and white grapes. On the principle of "vineyard- rather than varietal-wines," they constitute the basis of Casòn Hirschprunn’s cuvées.
